SoLA Center for the Arts is having a SoLA Star Search talent competition. This competition will be July 18th at 2 pm at the Municipal Auditorium on Verret Street.
The event is open to all children 6-17 years old in Terrebonne, Lafourche, and St Mary parishes. Children will be divided into three age groups ages 6-9, 10-13 and 14-17. There will be a 1, 2, 3 place winner for each category and an overall category. There will be judges in each category.
To register, come by South Louisiana Center for the Arts and fill out an application form. The registration fee is $5 for students of SoLA in the Spring 2010 or Summer 2010 semester classes, and for non-SoLA students, the fee is $10. Children can register at the Star Search at 1 pm for a fee of $20.
All children attending need to bring their own accompaniment music in CD format. There will be an automatic disqualification for anyone who uses profane languages or discriminating remarks about sex, race or ethnic background. The Star Search judges will be local professionals from our region.
